When turns half reddish, it tastes sweeter than an apple. Each fruit has only a few days of prime time on the tree before it turns fully ripe. The skin then turns wrinkle, dark red and the flesh becomes spongy. After drying it, it can be stored for a long time. The dried fruit has been used medicinally for millennium by many cultures. Each mature tree has the ability of producing hundreds of fruits each fall.
