HIERBA MORA is a traditional indigenous herb/vegetable ofSouthern Mexico and Central America.Ourseeds are a Guatemalan variety.

A favorite among the Mayan people since pre-Colombian times.It goes by several common namesincluding Hierba Mora, Mora, Quelite, Quelete, Macuy, Chiquelite, Tomatillo del diablo, and others.Botanically it is known as Solanum americanum.

In Meso-American traditional medicineHierba Mora has many uses. It is also collected from the wild or cultivated infamily garden plots for use in making traditional dishes including Pupusas, soups,tamales, stews, egg dishes, and more.

Hierba Mora leaves are rich in protein, iron, calcium,phosphorus, vitamins A and C, numerousphyto-nutrients, and complex carbs. In southern Mexico and Central America it considered a source of iron and also eaten by nursing mothers. In Puerto Rico a tea made from the leaves is taken for stomach issues and baby colic.

Hierba Mora seeds are very tiny and should barely be covered when planted. Germination is erratic and not all the seeds will sprout, but you will still end up with many plants to harvest. If planted to deeply, the seeds will not germinate.

VERY IMPORTANT: THE SEEDS WILL NOT SPROUT DURING HOT WEATHER, BUT WILL DELAY GERMINATING UNTIL IT BECOMES COOLER. FOR BEST RESULTS PLANT THE SEEDS IN THE FALL OR EARLY SPRING!
